During a recent visit to Seattle, we visited Chihuly Garden and Glass, a long-term exhibition of the works of glass sculptor Dale Chihuly. The exhibition, which opened in 2012 at the Seattle Center at the base of the Space Needle, is a vibrant, colorful collection of dozens of stunning blown-glass pieces, ranging from small, organic baskets to massive, intricate installations. The main link is to a six-minute video overview of the exhibition. You can also watch Playing with Fire, one of the short films shown in the exhibition’s theater. Or visit the Chihuly Garden and Glass site to learn more about the artist and the exhibition. As I wandered through, the pieces felt oddly familiar. It turns out I’d seen Chihuly’s work before: one of his installations, “Fiori di Como,” graces the ceiling of the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
