Emily Guskin, reporting for ABC News on the results of a recent ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll:
Seven in 10 Americans are not confident that Trump will accept the results of the upcoming midterm elections if the Republican Party loses, including half who are “not at all” confident.
Just 28% of Americans say they are “very” (10%) or “somewhat” (18%) confident that Trump will accept the results of midterms if Republicans lose.
94% of Democrats and 77% of independents have little confidence that the sitting president of the United States will accept the results of the midterm election if his party loses. Even 36% of Republicans don’t think he will.
Those three in ten Americans who believe Donald Trump would accept a losing outcome are truly trusting souls. Monty Python’s Black Knight would sooner accept defeat.
