Nitter, the software behind XCancel, is again archived and read-only on GitHub (as of September 10, 2026) and the web server at nitter.net is not accepting requests.
So much for the law and logic of fair use prevailing.
Litterbox remains a great option if you, individually, want to avoid X, but XCancel was valuable to me to avoid linking to X at all. (Litterbox is also limited to viewing a single post, while XCancel allowed for reading entire threads.)
I hope XCancel and Nitter return, but I fear a final nail has been hammered.
