All it took to get Marcia Griffith’s Electric Boogie immediately and irrevocably stuck in my head for three days was seeing the title of an episode of The Pitch podcast about an electric vehicle charging company called it’s electric. Seriously, three full days. The song—and the accompanying “Electric Slide” line dance that inevitably starts halfway through any semi-decent party—are infectious and joyous and deeply embedded in my subconscious. I can’t recall the first time I heard the song or danced the Slide, but also stuck in my head is a scene from A Different World, which had Ron (I think) dressed as a caveman (I think) and other Hillman students doing the Slide. I can’t find that scene anywhere. I don’t think it’s a fever dream.
